I believe that I should get a 100% on class participation
for this semester. The reasons I think I
deserve a 100 is because I’m always disguising the topics were on with Mr.
Schick and the class. Although I’m not
always right I do try to talk about what is going on unlike some people. Even when I was gone because of me being sick
I connected with class by using Skype to see what we were doing and to learn
more.

Tuesday's Blog
1/8/13 was a fun day in class with Mr. Schick’s fun animal noises. This included a deer and a zebra and how they
react to different situations like something coming up behind them. We learned many things today including the animals
that can and cannot be farmed. There are
more than 2 million species in the world today and the animals that can be
farmed from them is about 148. Now how
many do you think humans have actually been able to farm and make a good living
off of? Well to tell you the truth only
14 animals have been able to be successfully farmed for the good of
everyone. You would think that these
animals would come from many different places but 13 of them come from Europe and
Asia. Leaving the one which is the llama
which comes from South America. Because
of these animals not living in every place it made it hard for some cultures to
farm easily. Especially in New Guinea
where they have to use their own physical labor to do the hard stuff. I hope tomorrow will be like today except
better.
Monday's Blog
Today in class we watched more about Jared Diamond who is
trying to find out why some civilizations have moved so much further in their time span then other ones. In today’s parts we saw
how civilization have evolved over time from being hunter gathers to farmers
and then starting to domesticate the animals which in turn provides more for
the group. After learning about how the
cultures have evolved over time he then told us about how some cultures are
gifted with their geological location and what grows in their area. For instance in New Guinea they have a tree
called the Sago which can be striped apart and the insides can be made into dough
to eat. This dough though is not good in
nutrients but has many calories which do not give the people strong bones. On the other hand in a village name Drah which
is located in the Middle East was the perfect place to settle for the luscious wheat
and barley fields that covered the area.
The wheat and barley that grew there was more nutrients then the Sago
tree and also could be made into dough.
Because wheat and barley are grains they can be stored for a long period
of time unlike the Sago dough which can only be stored for a couple of
days. This made the people from New
Guinea have to forage for their food and not be able to focus on other
things. This is just some of the things
we learned but I could go on for a lot longer if I had the time.
